Hello, and welcome to my site!
That’s a safe intro, right? I’m not scaring anyone away yet? Good. That’s good.
This blog is for me to share my ideas about films and TV shows, maybe even throwing in a good book or two. I’ll be having some theoretical treatises, some fun fan girl stuff, and some good old fashioned ranting!
I want this to be a place where I can look at what film is doing and where it is going. I want to explore trends that I see in the visual medias. Most importantly, I want this to be a place where mythology can be taken out of dry academic context and shown to be the living, changing narrative force that I believe it is.
I do co-host a podcast over at The Hermit Cave, so there will probably be some overlap in the films or shows talked about. I’ll periodically link over there if I feel like we’ve talked about something relevant to this site and what it is I’m trying to do here. But all in all, I want this to be my space where I can explore and develop my musings on how what I’m watching impacts and reflects our culture.
A bit about myself: I have a B.A. in French and Classical Civilizations and an M.A. in Mythological Studies. I live in San Francisco, but I’ve lived all over this country and in Europe. I enjoy doing all things that require sitting, like watching TV and movies, eating, and reading. I hear that’s really good for your health.
I think that covers the basics for now. I’ll be trying to stick to some sort of a schedule, which is to be determined, but look out for the next post soon! Thanks, and welcome to my Mythic Ramblings!
